Risk : Copyright infringement on file sharing networks.
Copyright laws and laws pertaining to patents and inventions protect original works of authorship and inventions. Individuals who reproduce, distribute copies, receive copies, publicly perform or display works or inventions other than their own and without the consent of the owners or holders of rights, or their authorized agents, in original works of authorship or inventions, may be in violation of copyright, patent or other intellectual property infringement. Zultrax Software does not encourage or condone the illegal copying of copyrighted material. This is not intended to be legal counsel or advice. If you have any questions, consult your attorney.

The copyrights issue
The discussion about file sharing is dominated for quite a while by the whole copyright issue. There are people who use P2P file sharing software to exchange materials while the copyright laws in their country does not allow them to exchange that particularly materials.
We are computer programmers, not lawyers and we don't find the entire matter particularly interesting, however you should be aware that we strongly insist that you don't use our software to break your counties laws. Perhaps you could use your voting right and your right to protest to change those laws.
The Zultrax P2P file sharing program
is meant to promote freedom of speech and freedom of expression and to give a possibility to authors to spread their work without interference of corporate information monopolists. To bring culture and other forms of expression back to the people and to let information flow freely. This all of course within the limits of the laws.

Intellectual property
In law, intellectual property is an umbrella term for various legal entitlements which attach to certain types of information, ideas, or other intangibles in their expressed form. The holder of this legal entitlement is generally entitled to exercise various exclusive rights in relation to the subject matter of the intellectual property.
We -as do many others- oppose to the term intellectual property. First of all it isn't real property and second it is often used for stuff that hardly can be called intellectual. Also in the worldwide discussion about the very negative side effects of intellectual property the term itself is misleading. Some prefer the term intellectual rights. Ourselves we prefer the term monopoly on information which describes the actual situation best.
These laws vary from jurisdiction to jurisdiction, such that the acquisition, registration or enforcement of information monopoly rights must be pursued or obtained separately in each territory of interest. However, these laws are becoming increasingly harmonized under the pressure of large corporations and governments under their influence.
Western society is struggling with the pros and cons of those monopolies on information since the 1850's when so called intellectual property was first heard off. Before music, books, ideas and medicine were free to copy. Although some explain a few lines in the Jewish torah as an call for intellectual property regulations, in history before no civilization or society ever had comparable laws or arrangements.
