Warning - Be aware of scams
Some video files might show up with a message that a special media player is required to play that file. THESE FILES ARE ALL SCAMS! Do neither download, install nor purchase any of these players and best remove the file. Also with the adviced media player these files won't play. These files are not virusses but they do try to trick you into downloading and installing something that might very well contain one.
You can double-click such a file or press the button Play to open that file in the media player.
The media player can play all common audio and video files. For other files you will be provided with a "Launch" button. This allows you to open files Zultrax P2P cannot play within another program.
Turning the media player on and off
If you have another program installed for managing and playing your media files you might prefer Zultrax P2P playing the file in that program. E.g. if you have iTunes, when Zultrax P2P doesn't play the file itself but sends it to iTunes it not only gets played but also directly imported.
You can turn the Zultrax P2P media player off by selecting the item Settings from the menu Tools. Within the settings look up the item "Use the Zultrax P2P media player" and uncheck it. Press OK and from now on files will not be played by Zultrax P2P but by the program that you have configured as your default media player in Windows. Programs like iTunes configure themselves usually automatically as the default media player.
For turning the Zultrax P2P media player on again, you mark that item in the settings again as checked.

What is that codec stuff?
You just want to play a video file but instead of moving images you get this message:
Windows cannot play this file. By default not all video files can be played by Windows. For playing a video file the correct codec needs to be present on your computer. Some of the most popular codecs like e.g. Divx- that compresses a movie to a decent file size- are by default not present on Windows. Zultrax P2P can update your collection of codecs so you can play all common video files.
What is up? Like all common Windows software Zultrax P2P plays a video using DirectX calls. It is Windows that plays the video and Zultrax P2P that displays it. The Dark Force from Redmont supplies an operating system that cannot play all normal video files. Actually they seem to have figured out that you are better served having that quite complicated instead.
Don't get frustrated trying to figure out yourself: There is a whole bunch of solutions available on the net, for free. They are called codec packs. Make sure you have a good one and install it, the codec pack will arrange that you get the codecs you need and that you can just play all video files.
Also if you get other vague video playing errors, also in other players than Zultrax P2P, try to install such a pack.
A good good codecs pack can be found on
www.divx.com
. This one also comes with a player that can replace the Windows Media player.
Some video files (XVID encoded ones) just cannot be played with the Windows Media Player but can be played with e.g. the Divx player. Zultrax built in Media player is the standard windows Media Player so it also won't play those XVID encoded files.
