You can turn on the lock by checking it and turn it off again by unchecking. With the lock on you are protected against accidental changes of your search parameters. All search parameters are read-only when the search is locked.

Specify a keyword or keywords you want to search for. Zultrax P2P will search for files that have the specified keyword or keywords in their file-name. Separate multiple keywords with spaces.
An example: "Vivaldi mozart beethoven" searches for files with the names of all 3 composers in the file-name.

Our Vivaldi composer has made a famous work called the four seasons. For each season a play: winter, spring, summer and autumn. We like summer and spring, not winter and autumn. So we could define two searches, one with the keywords "vivaldi summer" and one with "vivaldi spring". The combined keywords are here to make our life more easy.
Use "Vivaldi" as keyword in "Search for" and fill in the combined keywords "summer" and "spring", each on a separate row. Now you have combined those two searches in one.
Zultrax P2P makes combinations of what is in "search for" and what is in the combined keywords. If a file has all keywords of one of those combinations, it is displayed as a search result. You can combine multiple searches at one. A common combination is the artist in the "search for" field and a specification of the works you are looking for in the combined keywords.
If you wish you can leave either the "search for" or the "combined keywords" empty.

You already specified what kind of file you are looking for when you started the search. Here you can change it afterwards. The file type specifies what kind of file you are looking for, is it audio, video or one of the other file types? In our case with Vivaldi we are looking for music, so it is audio.

|
Above we specified a file type. The type of a file is determined by its extension, the part of the file name behind the dot.Zultrax P2P knows which extensions belong to which file type. You might not fully agree to how we have pre-defined this or you might be looking for files with an extension we did not include, or you might want to exclude an extension we have included. Here you can overrule the file type and redefine the extensions this search should include the way you want.
Some people do not want to download files with the wma extension. Wma is developed by micro$oft and - do I need to say more? - not exactly superior. Just go into the extensions of your search and remove WMA from the list and no wma file will be found.
Done something wrong? Click the button "Restore to defaults" and the list will be restored to it's predefined state for the file type you've selected.

If you can, specify a size filter to reduce clutter in your search results.
File size can be a powerful filter to exclude files you clearly do not want. Normally one can say that a certain kind of file with a certain quality will have a file size within a certain range. Files that are smaller will be not complete, of low quality or not what you think it might be. A good piece of classical music for example should be at least 4 MB.

It hardly makes sense to search for files that you already have in your file library yourself. Zultrax P2P shows for each search result a filter status telling you that you already have this file, are already downloading it or downloaded it recently. With the filter you can specify that those files should be not included in your search results.

A search keeps on running until you stop it. Close Zultrax P2P and restart it again and the search will also restart. For each file that Zultrax P2P keeps in its search results it keeps recordings when that file was seen last. A file that was seen for the last time long ago will have little chances to become a successful download. Here you can instruct Zultrax P2P to throw that kind of files out of your list of results.

While inspecting your search results you see also files that you do not want to download. Still searching for "Vivaldi" but you don't like piano music? A file with the word "piano" in its file name might be not the right thing for you. Or you already have all his "violin" work, you skip all files with the word "violin" in the name.
With "Words to ignore" you can add this kind of words to a list. Zultrax P2P will skip all files containing a word in this list.
It works pretty much the same as the keywords. If you add two words on a row all files will be skipped that contain those two words. Each word on a separate row means that all files will be skipped that have at least one of those words.

You can select search results for downloading. When you do so the new download gets a setting in which folder it should place the file once the download is completed. That is the folder you specify here. It can be handy to keep your downloads grouped into folders to more easily find your files later on.
Zultrax P2P already puts a default value into the field when you start the search. That is the folder you have defined as your default folder in the
file library.
